Open Letter to Parents of Kress ISD,

The following is Kress ISD's COVID Guidelines. I will be using these guidelines in making decisions about quarantining students. The decision  to quarantine students is never made lightly. Our children are our most valuable asset and blessing we have as a community and as a parent. We must put their health and safety first.
  ~Leah Zeigler, Superintendent.

Kress ISD’s COVID Guidelines

  1. Kress ISD will follow Governor Abbott’s “Mask Mandate” and not require masks to be worn.
  2. Kress ISD highly recommends the wearing of a mask because the new ‘delta’ is highly contagious and affecting children more than the original COVID strain. We have adults and children who have tested positive for COVID in our community and school.
  3. Kress ISD will follow the CDC’s Guidelines for COVID.
  • Student and staff who test positive for COVID OR in were in close contact with a student or staff member who tests positive will be quarantined for at least 10 days if not tested prior to returning to school on the 11th day. If they are tested on day 5 or after and test negative they may return to school on day 7.
  • Vaccinated individuals do not have to quarantine if exposed.
  • Individual who has had COVID in the last 3 months (from beginning of the latest quarantine date) do not have to quarantine.
  • If you have a family member who tests negative you should isolate them from the rest of the family if you can to avoid the entire family having to quarantine. Parents if you have a child at home who must be quarantined but you cannot isolate from other school age children in the home may request remote learning for the other school age children in the home. Please call the office as soon as possible.
  • It is vital that all remote students log in daily for their lessons to ensure course credits and funding from the state.
  • Please call the school principal in the case of an exposure or positive test in your home. They will take your information and may ask a few questions. Please keep in mind that each case of an exposure or the circumstances around the exposure or getting COVID is different for each case.
KISD will update our guidelines and policies as the CDC releases updates.
