The Kress community must work together to fight COVID-19.  Head to for vitally important public health guidance to stop the spread. If we stand apart as a community now, we will be together again soon.

Hello, this is Mrs.Zeigler from Kress ISD. We miss our students, and hope you are all well. This important message about COVID-19 will help to keep you safe and healthy. The most important thing you can do right now is stay at home! If that’s not possible, practice social distancing by staying 6 feet from others. Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs and countertops. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, and cover a cough or sneeze with your elbow. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 – a fever, dry cough, or shortness of breath, call your doctor. Remember, by staying apart now, we can all be together again faster!

Schools will remain closed until at least May 4, 2020. However we are prepared to continue our virtual instruction and paper instruction as well as our meal plan until May 22, 2020 if necessary.

Mandatory participation is required of all students pre-k through 12th grade in the provided educational program regardless of method. The teacher may use digital tools or send home a packet including lessons and homework.

Instructional materials will be picked up on and returned on Mondays. If you are unable to pick up and drop off the packet please call the school to let us know. The high school number is 806.684.2651 and the elementary number is 806.684.2326. We will arrange for the pick and drop off packets and meals if needed.

Attendance is important for students to keep course credits and to be promoted. We will be reporting attendance based on the delivery of instruction and completion of work assigned. Student promotion and graduation will be based on locally determined TEKS mastery and graded work turned in by students.

Meals will be provided for our students much like a drive through as we will not be serving meals in the cafeteria as usual.  Meal service will begin Monday, March 30, 2020. All children 18 and under may receive a grab and go meal at no charge.  Meals will be available for pick up from the cafeteria side door from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. on MWF.

Meals will be available each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (MWF).  Each meal will include breakfast and lunch.
On Monday we will be giving out 2 meals--1 for Monday and 1 for Tuesday.
On Wednesday we will be giving out 2 meals-1 for Wednesday and Thursday.
On Friday we will be giving out 1 meal

Please stay connected to your school family. If you have not been contacted by Tuesday please call the school. The high school’s number is 806.684.2651 and the elementary school’s number is 806.684.2326.

Kress ISD has a webpage,  that we will use to communicate specific plans for continuing instruction while our students are at home. We will also use our Facebook groups to post information and announcements.  We will post schedules and how-tos as quickly as we can.

This is a rapidly progressing situation that impacts every citizen across the globe. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together under these unprecedented circumstances.

I love this community, the families and the students at Kress ISD. I serve a Mighty God and I am praying for you all daily.  We will weather this storm together!

Additionally, Kress ISD asks the broader community to take the following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the illness:
  • Don’t shake hands
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Limit movement within the community, especially avoiding crowded placed and maintaining 3 to 6 ft of distance between people (at least an arm’s length)
  • If you are moving around in the community, don’t congregate in large groups
  • For those who have traveled to areas with known COVID-19 cases – both inside and outside of the country – we ask that you self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms. Anyone who have traveled should plan to stay home for two weeks after arriving home.
  • If you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19, call your health care provider for medical advice .
  • Do not leave the house if you are ill, except to access medical care.
