Kress High School Announces the Valedictorian and Salutatorian


Koker Hernandez has been named the 2014 Valedictorian at Kress High School with a GPA of 3.53. Koker is the son of Maria Salinas and Jorge Hernandez. He’s attended Kress schools for 11 years and plans to dual-major in Business and Communications at West Texas A&M University.

He has been a part of Student Council and Student Government all 4 years. He held the offices of Student Council Secretary his freshman and sophomore years, Student Council Vice President his junior and senior years, and Class President all 4 years. He was also a part of the Homecoming Royalty Court this year and was voted 2014 Prom King.

He participated in ITE all 4 years and competed in Waco, TX his junior and senior years. He won 1st place, along with Mark Lopez, both years. He participated in One-Act Play his junior and senior years and competed in UIL all 4 years where he received countless awards.

He has been in the Upward Bound Program all 4 years and received The Upward Bound English Award his freshman year. He has been in the Gifted and Talented Program all 4 years and was inducted into the National Honors Society his sophomore year. He is now going on to college as an Attebury Honors Scholar. He received a President’s Education Award and a Citizenship Award all 4 years and was presented with the “Tomorrow’s Leader Award” by the Plainview Daily Herald.

He played Low-Brass and Percussion in Band his freshman through junior year and received numerous band awards throughout the years. He also obtained a chair in the All-Region Band his freshman year and received his Academic Blanket the same year.He has been a part of the Yearbook Committee for the last 2 years and has taken on the role of Business Manager both years. He was the school’s mascot his junior year and was a member of this year’s Pep-Squad and Shattered Dreams Program.

    Koker is an active member of Living Hope Family Worship Center in Plainview, TX.


Nicholas Aguilera has been named the 2014 s Salutatorian at Kress High School with a GPA of 3.24. Nicholas is the son of Nicole and Samuel Aguilera. He has attended Kress Schools since kindergarten. He plans on attending West Texas A&M University in the fall of 2014.

Nicholas played Varsity Football & Baseball all four years and Varsity Basketball three years. He was named 1st Team All District Middle Infielder his senior year in baseball and received All District Honorable Mention for basketball. He was selected as the Most Valuable Player for Baseball and Basketball his senior year.

Nicholas has been an officer in Kress High School’s Student Council all four years and serves as this year’s Student Body President.  He was selected by his peers as the Homecoming King this year. He has been chosen by the faculty and staff of Kress High School as the Best-All-Around Senior Boy and has received many academic wards, subject awards and citizenship awards throughout his high school career. He has been on the A/B Honor roll all four years.

Nicholas has been a member of the local 4-H chapter for eight years and a member of the school’s Industrial Arts Student Association and in Industrial Technology Education all four years of high school. He received Best in State for his wood and metal projects all four years of high school. He is a member of the Church of Christ in Tulia, Texas.
